Dear Darnell’s is seeking an experienced and motivated Restaurant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy restaurant and bar in Witchcliffe, in the Margaret River region.
The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the venue, maintaining high standards of food, beverage and customer service, managing and developing the front-of-house team, and working closely with the Head Chef and business owners.
This is a hands-on management position requiring strong hospitality experience, leadership skills and the ability to manage a busy service environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar.
Lead, supervise and support front-of-house employees to ensure efficient and professional service.
Recruit, train, roster and supervise restaurant staff.
Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing training and development.
Plan and organise restaurant services, special functions and events.
Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to coordinate food service and maintain efficient communication between front and back of house.
Consult with the Head Chef and management regarding menu development, seasonal offerings and functions.
Manage customer reservations and oversee the flow of service during busy periods.
Engage with customers, respond to feedback and resolve service issues professionally.
Maintain high standards of customer service and overall guest experience.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate the ordering and purchasing of beverages, restaurant supplies and other goods.
Assist with product pricing and cost control in accordance with operational budgets.
Maintain accurate records relating to stock levels, purchasing and relevant financial transactions.
Monitor operating costs, labour expenditure, sales performance and other key restaurant performance indicators.
Ensure the restaurant, bar and dining areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, presentation and functionality.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, responsible service of alcohol, workplace health and safety and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Implement and maintain restaurant procedures and service standards.
Conduct opening and closing procedures and ensure appropriate cash-handling and end-of-day processes are followed.
Work collaboratively with the owners and Head Chef to continually improve restaurant operations, service standards and profitability.
Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will have:
Previous experience in restaurant or hospitality management in a busy food and beverage environment.
Strong leadership and staff management skills.
Demonstrated experience supervising and training front-of-house teams.
Strong knowledge of restaurant and bar operations.
Experience with rostering, stock control, ordering and cost management.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage busy services and competing operational priorities.
Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and responsible service requirements.
Current RSA certification or ability to obtain the required certification.
Relevant hospitality qualifications and/or substantial relevant industry experience.
Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
The successful applicant will be expected to take an active leadership role within the venue while maintaining the operational, service and management standards expected of a full-time Restaurant Manager.
