Hays Trades & Labour is partnering with a leading organisation operating a large fleet of heavy vehicles across Canberra. Due to continued growth, an opportunity exists for a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join a well-established workshop team. Your New Role
As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles and trucks to ensure reliability, safety and operational performance. Your duties will include:
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on heavy vehicles and trucks
  • Conducting routine servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Completing inspections and identifying mechanical issues
  • Repairing and replacing mechanical components as required
  • Maintaining service records and workshop documentation
  • Working closely with supervisors and workshop personnel
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Contributing to the efficient operation of the workshop
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic
  • Experience servicing and repairing trucks and heavy vehicles
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
  • Ability to work effectively under supervision
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Reliable and professional approach to work
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Desirable:
  • HR Driver's Licence
  • Experience working on fleet vehicles
  • Exposure to waste management, transport or logistics fleets
