Duties and Responsibilities: - Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements. - Measure and calculate surface areas to estimate required paint and materials. - Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and filling holes, cracks, and joints. - Erect scaffolding, ladders, and work platforms safely to access high interior and exterior areas. - Apply primers, undercoats, and finish coats using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. - Mix, match, and blend paint colours and textures according to specifications. - Apply decorative paint finishes, textures, wallpapers, or fabrics to surfaces where required. - Ensure all paintwork is uniform, smooth, free of blemishes, and finished to the required standard. - Protect surrounding areas, furniture, and structures using drop sheets and masking tape. - Carry out restoration, repair, and maintenance of existing painted surfaces and finishes. - Work safely around other construction trades and coordinate activities with supervisors and other site personnel. - Maintain brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other equipment in a safe and clean condition. - Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, site procedures, and relevant Australian standards. - Identify and report construction issues, defects, hazards, or material requirements to the supervisor. - Perform other related painting, decorating, and general construction duties as reasonably required. To be successful, applicants must hold a relevant trade qualification in painting or equivalent, and have a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience as a Painter, preferably within residential or commercial construction. Applicants must also have: - Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications. - Competent in surface preparation, paint mixing, and professional application techniques. - Ability to accurately prepare, tape, and paint various surfaces to required lines and specifications. - Good understanding of construction site safety requirements (specifically including working at heights). - Relevant Australian licences, tickets, or White Card requirements where applicable. Our ideal applicant will be: - Reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to premium finishes. - Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Physically fit to perform active construction work, handle lifting, and work outdoors/at heights. - Background in residential and/or commercial construction. Australian project experience is preferred, but overseas candidates with a strong trade background are highly considered.
