Summary
Our client is an established Australian subsidiary of a global leader in viticulture, agriculture and winery machinery, supporting customers nationwide from its Adelaide workshop. Our client is seeking to add a Mechanical Engineering Technician (After Sales Service) to provide technical support across specialised agricultural equipment, including diagnostics, servicing, commissioning, maintenance, performance analysis and after-sales technical operations.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct field and workshop diagnostic testing of mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify faults.
- Assess equipment failures and performance issues to determine causes and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Coordinate repair, servicing, commissioning and maintenance activities across the company's specialised agricultural machinery range.
- Assemble, install, commission and test new and modified mechanical assemblies, components and machine systems.
- Test and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control systems associated with specialised agricultural equipment.
- Collect, analyse and interpret technical and operational data relating to equipment performance and recurring faults.
- Prepare technical findings, service documentation, maintenance records, reports and recommendations following equipment assessments.
- Liaise with overseas manufacturers regarding technical issues, warranty matters, engineering updates and product improvements.
- Organise and supervise preventative and corrective maintenance activities for machinery and associated mechanical equipment.
- Support workshop service technicians and assist with the allocation and coordination of technical service tasks.
- Coordinate with spare parts personnel to ensure required components are available for servicing and repairs.
- Provide technical training and support to staff, dealers and customers regarding equipment operation, servicing and maintenance.
- Inspect completed servicing, repairs, installations and modifications for compliance with manufacturer specifications, engineering requirements, safety standards and relevant regulations.
- Monitor equipment reliability, service performance, recurring faults and warranty issues to recommend preventative maintenance improvements.
- Support seasonal service campaigns, field servicing activities and other technical after-sales service initiatives.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Diploma, Advanced Diploma or equivalent relevant qualification in mechanical, agricultural, automotive engineering or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum two years of recent, directly relevant experience in mechanical servicing, equipment diagnostics, technical support or after-sales service operations.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems used within machinery or comparable equipment environments.
- Proven experience interpreting technical manuals, engineering schematics, manufacturer specifications and equipment servicing documentation accurately.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and diagnostic capability when assessing mechanical equipment faults, failures and operational performance issues.
- Ability to prepare accurate technical reports, service documentation, maintenance records, warranty information and technical recommendations.
- Good organisational and communication skills for coordinating servicing activities and providing technical support to customers and technicians.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining workplace safety, technical compliance and manufacturer quality standards.
