Technical Operations Engineer | Must be located in NSW | PowerShell & Automation

Your new company

Our client operates within the healthcare sector, supporting hospitals, pharmacies, correctional facilities and community health services across Australia. They are seeking a Technical Operations Engineer to join their growing team and help deliver a high level of service to customers across NSW.

Your new role

As the Technical Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, support and continuous improvement of a specialist software platform used by customers across NSW.
This is a hands-on technical role, not a people leadership position. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving problems, writing scripts, improving systems and taking ownership of technical issues from investigation through to resolution.
While the role has traditionally been focused on infrastructure and technical operations, it is evolving into something much more. The organisation is building an AI-enabled approach to infrastructure management and support, leveraging automation and data to improve operational outcomes across healthcare environments throughout the state.
You do not need prior AI experience. Instead, we are looking for someone with strong scripting and infrastructure experience who is curious about emerging technologies and excited by the opportunity to learn how AI can be applied to real-world operational environments.
The role is predominantly work from home. However, candidates must be based in Sydney and willing to travel to customer locations throughout NSW when needed.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong experience supporting and troubleshooting applications, Windows Server infrastructure, networking, and database environments
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills, with the ability to design, develop, maintain and troubleshoot complex automation scripts that improve operational efficiency and system reliability
  • Experience working in complex operational or production environments where automation, scripting and infrastructure management are critical
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, including the ability to investigate issues, analyse data and perform database troubleshooting
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across applications, infrastructure, networking and customer-facing systems
  • Experience managing support tickets through to resolution while maintaining strong customer communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Interest in AI, automation and emerging technologies, with a desire to contribute to AI-assisted operational processes and infrastructure management capabilities
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a remote working environment
  • Comfortable operating in both hands-on technical and customer-facing environments, including occasional customer site visits when required

What you'll get in return

  • Predominantly remote working with flexibility and autonomy
  • Opportunity to work alongside technical leaders who are building next-generation AI-assisted operational environments
  • Exposure to infrastructure automation, scripting and emerging AI technologies
  • A highly varied role spanning infrastructure, applications, scripting, databases and customer environments
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of AI-driven infrastructure management capabilities
  • Exposure to healthcare and mission-critical technology environments
  • Long-term career growth within a business investing heavily in innovation and technology
  • The ability to make a genuine impact on customer outcomes across hospitals, pharmacies, correctional facilities and community health services throughout Australia
