Our client, Lee Brothers Fencing, is a family-owned Australian business, specialising in commercial and industrial fencing, gates, security fencing, noise walls and hoarding solutions. The business operates at a Preston, Victoria facility, where they manufacture customised fencing, gates and related products for commercial, infrastructure and high-security projects. Their work covers sectors including rail, defence, correctional facilities, education, public infrastructure and commercial developments. The business is seeking a Welder to support their business. As a Welder, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining industrial equipment. You will work with heavy machinery, such as bandsaws and cranes, to assemble and install large pieces of equipment. Reading and interpret codes, symbols, and schematics to determine proper setup and procedures. The annual salary for this position will be $80,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation. Duties include: • Reading plans and drawings and taking measurements. • Setting up components for welding according to specifications. • Using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines, fabricators cut and shape metal sections and pipes to precise dimensions. • Using various welding techniques to join metal sections and create structures. • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements). • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded. • Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments. • Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision. • Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiselling and grinding. • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead). • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. • Identify and resolve issues that arise during the welding process. • Using specialised tools to cut and shape metal pieces for welding. Qualification and Experience Required: • Must have a relevant Trade Qualification or AQF Certificate III in welding fabrication. • Must have at least one to two (1-2) years of full-time experience in a similar position. Skills Required: • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Demonstrate the ability to perform physical/manual labouring tasks related to a welder in a safe manner. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to read drawings, work to a time frame and complete tasks with a high-end finish. • Eye for detail and quality. • Be able to read and produce computer-generated drawings.
