Eminent IT is a technology services business based at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast, looking after the systems that businesses rely on every day for clients on the Gold Coast and in Sydney and Melbourne. Rather than leaving organisations to juggle several suppliers, the team brings managed IT services, networking and security, cloud solutions, backup and disaster recovery, business telephony, web development and helpdesk support together under one roof. The focus is on technology that is dependable, secure and sensibly priced, backed by people who take the time to understand how each client works, so that businesses stay connected, protected and ready for whatever comes next. Eminent IT is now looking for a Systems Administrator to join the team, a role that will suit a hands-on IT professional who enjoys keeping servers and networks running smoothly and thinking ahead about how a client's environment should grow. Systems Administrator | Eminent IT | Runaway Bay, QLD Key Duties: • Plan and set up server rooms, communications cabinets and network layouts at client premises, making sure servers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, phone hardware and staff devices are matched to one another and operate reliably as a single environment from the day they go live. • Administer client servers under Eminent IT's managed services agreements, including user accounts, access permissions, group policies, patching, updates and routine maintenance windows. • Pick up escalated tickets from the helpdesk and track down the cause of faults affecting servers, desktops, laptops, network equipment and business phone systems, working remotely or on site to fix failed hardware, correct software and configuration problems and get clients working again with as little disruption as possible. • Keep a close eye on network health across the client base using monitoring tools, watching bandwidth, latency, uptime and device performance, and tune configurations to clear bottlenecks before users notice them. • Protect client environments by configuring and reviewing firewalls, VPN access, antivirus and endpoint protection, applying security patches promptly and responding to alerts or suspicious activity. • Manage backup schedules and disaster recovery arrangements, confirming that backups complete, running regular test restores and leading the recovery of systems and data after an outage or incident. • Review each client's existing server and network setup on a regular cycle, looking at capacity, ageing equipment, licensing and how the business is growing, and put forward clear, costed recommendations for upgrades, new servers, cloud moves or network expansion. • Set up and administer cloud-hosted services, email, file storage and user identities for clients, and help plan and carry out migrations from on-premises servers to the cloud. • Build, image and deploy new servers, workstations and network devices, and look after the onboarding and offboarding of client users so that access is granted and removed correctly. • Produce and keep current the technical records for every client site, including network diagrams, configuration details, standard operating procedures, user guides and IT policies, together with accurate system logs, change records and incident notes that the rest of the team can rely on. • Work alongside the helpdesk, software support and development team, explain technical issues to clients in plain language, and liaise with hardware vendors, internet providers and carriers to resolve problems and complete projects on time. Qualifications and Experience: • At least 1 year of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a closely related IT infrastructure role. • A minimum AQF Bachelor degree or higher qualification, preferably in information technology, computer science, networking or a related discipline. Hours: 38 hours per week - Full-time Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum Personal Attributes: • A methodical problem solver who stays calm and focused when systems go down • A clear communicator who can explain technical matters to non-technical clients • Careful with detail, particularly in documentation and configuration changes • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, close-knit team • Well organised and able to balance several client priorities at once • Customer focused, with a genuine interest in keeping up with new technology How to Apply: If you are ready to take ownership of client servers and networks and help businesses get more from their technology, we would like to hear from you. Please send your resume together with a cover letter that addresses the criteria set out above.
