Full-time Motor Mechanic position available in Laverton North VIC 3026. 3 Stand-out Bullet Points: • Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation • Full-time position supporting an Australian freight and logistics business • Hands-on role in fleet servicing, mechanical diagnostics and repairs Position Overview M1 Transport is an Australian freight and logistics business providing B-Double linehaul, bulk haulage, third-party warehousing and refrigerated transport. Its operations include scheduled East Coast linehaul services, freight consolidation and heavy industrial freight logistics. We are seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to inspect, service and repair the vehicles supporting our transport operations. The successful candidate will diagnose mechanical faults, carry out preventive maintenance and complete repairs to manufacturer specifications, helping maintain vehicle reliability and safe operation. The role requires practical mechanical skills, attention to detail and the ability to coordinate maintenance with transport schedules. Key Responsibilities • Inspect and diagnose mechanical faults in fleet vehicles using diagnostic tools, technical manuals and testing equipment. • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance, including oil and filter changes and checks of essential vehicle systems. • Dismantle, repair or replace defective components in engines, cooling and fuel systems, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension. • Reassemble and adjust mechanical components, test completed repairs and report unresolved defects before vehicles return to service. • Maintain accurate service and repair records, report parts requirements and follow workshop safety and environmental procedures. Qualifications and Skills • Relevant automotive mechanical qualification or equivalent relevant trade training and experience • At least 2 years of relevant experience in vehicle servicing, mechanical diagnostics and repairs • Experience with commercial or heavy vehicles relevant to the fleet is desirable • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret manufacturer specifications and technical manuals • Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop and transport operations team • Current driver licence appropriate to the duties and a sound understanding of workshop safety Salary: This is a full-time position with a remuneration package ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
