About the Position Rohy's Painting is seeking an experienced Painter to join the business on a full-time basis. The Painter will carry out residential painting and coating work from preparation through to final finish, working directly in clients' homes and dealing face to face with homeowners. As a small, owner-led contractor, the business depends on each tradesperson to deliver a finish that meets its standard without close supervision, to keep sites clean and safe, and to represent the business professionally on every job. The role is central to the quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction on which the business has built its reputation. Key Responsibilities Inspect surfaces and discuss job requirements, finishes and colour selections with clients before work begins Prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, stripping old paint and removing loose or flaking coatings Fill cracks, holes and joints with fillers and sealants, and sand to a smooth, even finish Protect floors, furniture, fixtures and surrounding areas with drop sheets, masking and covers Select, mix and tint paints and coatings to achieve the required colour, consistency and finish Apply primers, sealers and undercoats suited to each substrate, including timber, plasterboard, masonry and metal Apply paints, enamels, stains, varnishes and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment Apply protective and decorative coatings to interior and exterior surfaces Erect, use and dismantle ladders, trestles and mobile scaffolding safely Follow work health and safety requirements, including safe work at heights and the safe handling, storage and disposal of paints, solvents and other chemicals Inspect finished work for quality, complete touch-ups and rectify defects before handover Clean, maintain and store brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other tools Keep work sites clean and tidy and leave clients' homes in good order at the end of each day Monitor materials on hand and advise on paint and supply requirements for upcoming jobs Requirements Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or an equivalent qualification, or at least three years of relevant experience as a painter. A minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience as a painter. Sound knowledge of surface preparation methods, paint systems, primers, sealers and finishing techniques for interior and exterior work. Competence with brushes, rollers and spray equipment, and with ladders, trestles and mobile scaffolding. Working knowledge of work health and safety practices for painting, including working at heights and handling hazardous substances. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to a consistently high-quality finish. Clear, courteous communication with homeowners and the ability to work in occupied homes respectfully. Ability to work independently, manage time well and solve problems on site. Reliable, punctual and available to work full time.
