LTD. is looking for a full-time Welder to join for their thriving business. Kooltech Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is an Australian specialist in industrial and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and HVAC solutions, servicing businesses across South-East Queensland and customers throughout Australia. The company provides end-to-end services including system design and engineering, installation and commissioning, preventative maintenance, plant upgrades, automation and control systems, and 24/7 breakdown support. Kooltech has expertise in ammonia, CO2 and Freon refrigeration systems, chilled water and glycol systems, compressor servicing, blast freezing and cooling, energy management, and customised air conditioning and ventilation solutions, with a strong focus on reliability, energy efficiency, safety and environmentally responsible technologies. To be considered for the role, you need to have a relevant industry qualification or at least 2 years' experience in a similar position. Key Duties and Responsibilities: -Interpret engineering drawings, welding specifications, fabrication plans and P&IDs to determine welding and joint requirements for industrial refrigeration and HVAC projects. -Select and prepare appropriate welding equipment, electrodes, filler materials and consumables according to the materials and welding requirements of each job. -Prepare stainless steel, carbon steel, structural steel and pressure pipework for welding by cleaning, measuring, cutting, bevelling and positioning components. -Perform TIG, MIG, and arc welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, pressure pipework, and structural steel components. -Weld refrigeration pipework, pipe supports, equipment brackets, machinery bases, structural frames, pipe racks, and other customized steel components. -Position, align, and secure components using clamps, jigs, fixtures, and measuring equipment to achieve accurate fit-up before welding. -Apply appropriate welding techniques and procedures to achieve strong, accurate, and consistent welded joints. -Carry out welding work on structural supports and assemblies associated with compressors, condensers, evaporators, and other industrial refrigeration equipment. -Perform repair welding and modifications to existing refrigeration equipment supports, steel structures, pipework, and fabricated components during maintenance and plant upgrade projects. -Inspect completed welds for penetration, bead quality, strength, alignment, dimensional accuracy and overall workmanship. -Identify welding defects and carry out corrective welding, grinding or rework where required to achieve the specified quality. -Grind, clean, polish and finish welded joints and surrounding surfaces to meet project and workmanship requirements. -Assist with pressure testing, leak testing and other quality checks on welded pipework and fabricated assemblies where required. -Ensure welding work is completed in accordance with engineering specifications, project requirements -Safely operate welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, saws and other tools required for welding preparation and finishing work. -Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of welding equipment, leads, torches and associated workshop tools. -Maintain a clean, organised and safe welding and fabrication work area and correctly use required personal protective equipment. -Work collaboratively with refrigeration technicians, fabricators, engineers and project personnel to coordinate welding activities during workshop fabrication and onsite installation. -Complete assigned welding work accurately and efficiently to support project schedules and installation requirements. To be successful in this role, you will have: -A relevant trade qualification in welding, fabrication, or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience. -Experience welding stainless steel, carbon steel, structural steel and/or pipework. -Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding specifications, and technical documentation. -Strong knowledge of welding preparation, fit-up, joining, and finishing techniques. -Ability to inspect completed welds and identify common welding defects. -Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
