EOI – Bricklaying Apprenticeship (Bendigo/Echuca Region)

Westvic Staffing Solutions are seeking expressions of interest from motivated individuals interested in a Bricklaying Apprenticeship. An exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and the outdoors.

General Tasks Include:

• Interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Lays or assists with laying building materials including brick, structural tile, concrete and cinder block, glass block, gypsum block, and terra cotta block.
• Construct or repairs masonry elements such as walls, partitions, arches, sewers, and similar structures. Measures from reference points and marks out guidelines to set out brickwork and blockwork.
• Prepares and spreads mortar beds using hand tools.
• Apply mortar to masonry units and positions units into mortar beds.
• Levels, aligns, and beds masonry units while maintaining specified joint thicknesses.
• Removes excess mortar from masonry surfaces during and after laying.
• Finishes mortar joints using pointing tools or trowels.
• Cuts, trims, or breaks bricks and blocks to fit designated spaces using appropriate hand tools.
