Painting Trades Worker – Full-Time

Weldworks Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Painting Trades Worker to work across our clients’ residential, commercial and public construction projects throughout NSW and WA.
This is a full-time opportunity to join a supportive, multidisciplinary team and contribute to a variety of high-quality construction projects.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Certificate III or higher in Painting and Decorating, or an equivalent relevant qualification
At least two years of proven experience as a Painting Trades Worker
Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint application and finishing techniques
Experience using brushes, rollers and spray-painting equipment
Ability to mix and match colours to achieve specified shades and finishes
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and quality workmanship
Good physical fitness, stamina and manual-handling capability
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Strong practical problem-solving abilities
Flexibility to work across project locations in NSW and WA when required
Key Responsibilities
Inspect and prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling, repairing and priming them
Remove old paint, wallpaper and other existing coatings where required
Select, mix and match paints, stains, varnishes and other coatings to achieve specified colours and finishes
Apply paints, varnishes and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment
Apply decorative and textured finishes in accordance with project specifications
Protect surrounding surfaces, furniture and fixtures before commencing work
Ensure coatings are applied evenly and completed surfaces are free from defects and imperfections
Complete detailed finishing work to achieve a high-quality appearance
Inspect completed work for colour consistency, coverage, finish and overall workmanship
Safely lift and carry paint containers, ladders and painting equipment
Clean, maintain and correctly store painting tools and equipment
Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves and protective clothing
Handle paints, solvents and hazardous materials safely and ensure adequate workplace ventilation
Follow workplace health and safety procedures, environmental requirements and applicable regulations
Maintain clean, organised and safe work areas during and after each project
Coordinate with supervisors, clients and other trades to complete work within required timeframes
