Weldworks Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee our clients’ residential, commercial, industrial, civil and public infrastructure projects across Sydney.
The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, organising, directing, controlling and coordinating construction projects, including the management of physical, financial and human resources from commencement through to completion.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Construction Project Management, Building Science, Building Technology, Civil Engineering or another closely related field
A minimum of three years of relevant construction project management experience
Experience managing construction schedules, budgets, labour, materials, plant and equipment
Strong knowledge of construction methods, building legislation, Australian Standards, quality requirements and workplace health and safety procedures
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, technical specifications and construction contracts
Experience coordinating architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, tradespeople and relevant authorities
Strong understanding of tendering, procurement, contract administration and project cost control
Ability to identify project risks, delays, cost overruns and budget variations and implement corrective actions
Strong leadership, negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills
Excellent organisational, reporting and problem-solving abilities
Current Australian driver’s licence preferred
Relevant registration, licensing or site accreditation where required for the project
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate construction projects from commencement through to completion
Establish project plans, construction schedules, milestones, budgets and resource requirements
Interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, technical specifications and contractual requirements
Determine appropriate construction methods, sequencing, labour requirements, materials, plant and equipment
Coordinate the procurement and delivery of construction materials, equipment and services
Consult with architects, engineers, building professionals, consultants, tradespeople and technical personnel
Communicate and negotiate with clients, property developers, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
Prepare, review and contribute to tenders, quotations, contract bids and project proposals
Develop and implement coordinated work programs across construction sites
Monitor project progress, expenditure, quality, safety, risks and compliance against approved plans and budgets
Ensure construction activities comply with building legislation, Australian Standards, contractual requirements and workplace health and safety procedures
Manage and monitor the performance, quality and progress of contractors and subcontractors
Coordinate the submission of plans, permit applications and supporting documents to relevant authorities
Arrange required inspections, approvals, practical completion and project handover activities
Prepare progress reports, budget updates, risk assessments and project documentation
Identify delays, cost overruns, quality issues and construction risks and implement appropriate corrective actions
Lead and supervise site managers, project engineers, supervisors, forepersons, subcontractors and tradespeople as required
Maintain effective communication with clients and key stakeholders throughout the construction process
Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards
