About the Employer
We are supporting a Northern Territory-based Australian private company (ABN 83 650 442 283) operating major business establishments in Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island. The business operates across the retail, food, hospitality and automotive sectors, including a post office, shopping centre, bakery, restaurant, coffee shop and motor shop.
The company is known for its strong community presence and for providing essential goods and services to the local community. With its diverse operations and established workforce, they are seeking to fill the following role: Chef.
This opportunity offers stable employment and the chance to work within a supportive, community-focused work environment.
Annual salary : $65,000 - $80,000 excluding superannuation
Work location : Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island NT 0822
Work hours : Average of 38 ordinary hours per week (permanent, full-time basis).
POSITION SUMMARY
The Chef will join a team in a remote work environment and will be responsible in planning and organizing the preparation and cooking of food for dining and catering services.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the senior chef in preparing, seasoning and cooking dishes according to restaurant’s menu.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area (including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly).
- Assist in inventory management by keeping track of stock levels and informing senior chef of any shortages.
- Engage and assist customers with their orders and requests.
POSITION COMPETENCIES
- Creative, resourceful and willing to work in a remote setting where the menu options are driven by ingredients, produce and spices which are not as varied and widely available in an urban community.
- Highly skilled in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes from a diverse menu.
- High attention to details and commitment to presentation standards.
- Excellent time management and ability to work independently.
- Experience in working collaboratively with a multicultural team.
- Strong background in maintaining and complying with health and safety regulations in food hygiene.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- At least 5 years' employment experience (with no formal training) or 3 years' employment experience (with relevant formal training).
