Adelaide Contract Warehousing provides warehousing and logistics support, requiring reliable transport services to facilitate the movement and delivery of goods. The successful applicant will operate heavy vehicles, manage freight safely and efficiently, and support the company's daily transport and distribution activities. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: - Operate heavy trucks to transport freight between warehouses, distribution centres, customer premises and designated delivery locations. - Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to meet scheduled collection and delivery requirements. - Manoeuvre heavy vehicles safely into designated loading docks, delivery bays and unloading areas. - Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment and established safe handling procedures. - Inspect vehicles before and after journeys to identify mechanical defects and maintenance requirements. - Check freight weights and ensure loads comply with legal vehicle mass and dimension limits. - Secure and distribute loads correctly to prevent shifting, damage or loss during transportation. - Verify delivery documentation, consignment details and freight quantities before departure and upon arrival. - Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery records, vehicle inspection reports and other required documentation. - Follow road transport regulations, fatigue management requirements and established workplace safety procedures. - Communicate with warehouse personnel and logistics coordinators regarding freight movements and delivery schedules. - Monitor vehicle performance and report mechanical faults, safety hazards or operational delays promptly. - Ensure transported goods are handled carefully and delivered in accordance with customer requirements. - Maintain vehicle cleanliness and assist with routine checks to support safe and reliable operations. - Obtain proof of delivery and report discrepancies, damaged freight or delivery issues to relevant personnel. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role: - A minimum of 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience driving heavy trucks in freight transport or comparable logistics operations. - Possession of a valid Australian heavy vehicle driver's licence appropriate to the truck classification and operational requirements. - An AQF Certificate II or III in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience, is desirable. - Demonstrated ability to operate heavy vehicles safely while complying with applicable road transport regulations and licensing conditions. - Practical knowledge of freight loading, load restraint techniques, weight distribution and safe loading and unloading procedures. - Ability to undertake vehicle safety inspections, recognise mechanical defects and accurately complete transport and delivery documentation. - Sound understanding of fatigue management obligations, workplace health and safety procedures, and heavy vehicle operating requirements. - Effective communication, time management and organisational skills to coordinate deliveries with warehouse staff, customers and logistics personnel.
