Adelaide Contract Warehousing provides storage, freight distribution and integrated logistics solutions to commercial customers. The successful applicant will oversee procurement strategies, supplier relationships, purchasing operations and contract negotiations, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, reliable supply arrangements and efficient coordination with the company's warehousing and transport operations. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: - Develop and implement procurement strategies, purchasing policies and operational plans aligned with organisational objectives. - Direct and coordinate purchasing activities to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement of goods, materials and services. - Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based on pricing, quality, reliability and operational requirements. - Negotiate supplier contracts, purchasing agreements and commercial terms to achieve competitive pricing and service standards. - Establish and maintain supplier relationships to support reliable procurement and long-term commercial partnerships. - Monitor procurement expenditure, analyse purchasing costs and identify opportunities for operational savings and improved efficiency. - Develop purchasing budgets, monitor expenditure and prepare procurement forecasts to support business planning. - Coordinate with warehousing, transport and logistics personnel to determine purchasing requirements and delivery schedules. - Oversee procurement processes to maintain appropriate stock availability while minimising unnecessary inventory holding costs. - Review supplier performance against contractual obligations, delivery schedules, product quality and agreed service requirements. - Implement procurement controls, purchasing approval procedures and accurate recording systems for procurement transactions. - Analyse market conditions, supplier capabilities and pricing trends to identify alternative sourcing opportunities. - Manage procurement risks, resolve supplier disputes and ensure compliance with contractual and organisational requirements. - Direct and supervise purchasing personnel, allocating responsibilities and monitoring performance against procurement objectives. - Prepare management reports covering procurement expenditure, supplier performance, purchasing efficiencies and cost reduction initiatives. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role: - A minimum of five years' relevant experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain management, including recent management responsibilities. - A bachelor's degree in procurement, supply chain management, business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience. - Demonstrated experience developing and implementing procurement strategies, purchasing policies and supplier management programmes within commercial organisations. - Proven ability to negotiate supplier contracts, manage commercial agreements and achieve competitive purchasing outcomes while maintaining quality. - Sound understanding of procurement budgeting, expenditure analysis, cost control and inventory management principles within operational business environments. - Experience evaluating supplier performance, managing procurement risks and maintaining reliable supply arrangements across multiple operational requirements. - Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interpret purchasing data and resolve complex supplier issues. - Ability to lead procurement activities, coordinate cross-functional teams and establish effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
